Senior Sage Leek passed away Sunday, March 15.

Sage was passionate about art and photography, and took almost every art class offered by the school.

She is remembered by her art teachers as confident, hardworking, and self-assured.

Art teacher Irene Sipe had Sage in her Jewelry II class and Painting II this year.

“I remember her as just this really calm presence in my life and in my classroom,” Sipe said. “She was always very kind to everybody in here. She came in and she was very focused on her artwork.”

According to her ceramics teacher Sheri Greene, Sage liked an organic, free-flowing style of sculpting.
Art teacher John Tarr had Sage in his photography class this year.

“She was a pretty serious art student,” Tarr said. “We have these lessons and she would kind of twist and change the lesson so it fit something a little different and was a little bit more unique. And it always solved the problem. She was always very successful, especially with her artwork.”

Tarr recalls Sage sitting in his classroom, laughing with friends and socializing.

Sage will be sorely missed by those who knew her.

“Art kids all kind of have a family about them and I think the art students definitely miss her,” Sipe said.
