Grand Haven boys water polo hosts conference rival West Ottawa

The Grand Haven boys water polo team looks to live up to expectations as they host Holland West Ottawa at 7 p.m. today.

The Buccaneers are ranked number four in division one according to last week’s rankings by the Michigan Water Polo Association. They are also second in the O-K Red conference, behind Rockford.

Senior David Kooistra likes the start that the Bucs have gotten off to and is excited by the team’s potential.

“Right now, I want to beat West Ottawa really bad because they’re our biggest rival in the conference,” Kooistra said. “As far as [long term], our goal should be to go far in the offseason and make it to state.”

Grand Haven (2-1, 1-0) looks to carry over momentum from their win at East Kentwood to the game tonight. Junior varsity starts at 6 p.m., followed by varsity.
