What Happened:

With a win Wednesday night, the Bucs would have earned a share of the O-K Red Conference title with East Kentwood. As a result, both teams came out of the gates hard, battling up and down the field for scoring opportunities. Although neither team scored in the first half, senior Derek Braak found his scoring touch early in the second half, putting the Bucs in the lead. However, East Kentwood forward Mensud Selmic capitalized on a set piece less than ten minutes later, tying the game at 1. After two halves of overtime, neither team was able to score again.

Player of the Game:

Just a few minutes into the second half, Braak rifled a left-footed volley to the right side of the goal and into the back of the net to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead.

Key Contributors:

Although he did not score, senior forward Christian Dault threatened the East Kentwood defense all night, sending two long shots off the crossbar in the second half. Junior goalkeeper Garrison Mast also played well, making several diving saves over the course of the game.

Quote of the Night:

“We can compete against anyone, even the best teams in the state, because we are one of the best team in the state.” -Dault
