Boys tennis falls to West Ottawa, 5-3

Senior Tristan Tongue hits a forehand shot in a home match against West Ottawa. Tongue and his partner, sophomore John Richardson, defeated their opponent 2-1.

What Happened: The boys tennis team had a home conference match against the West Ottawa Panthers yesterday afternoon. The fourth doubles team, senior Tristan Tongue and sophomore John Richardson, won their match 2-1 with set scores of 6-3, 2-6 and 6-3. The number one doubles team, seniors Simon Herndl and Nicholas Akselberg, won their match 2-1 with set scores of  6-2, 4-6 and 6-3. Second singles player, junior Riley Wilton, won his match 2-1 with set scores of 6-3, 0-6 and 6-2. Overall, the rest of the Bucs players lost their matches resulting in a 5-3 loss to the Panthers.

They said it: “Most of our matches went to three sets which means we could’ve had a chance in almost every match,” Tongue said. “In my opinion it could’ve gone either way.”

Key Player: After losing his second set 0-6, sophomore Riley Wilton came back to win his third set 6-2 and won his match 2-1.
