Bucs football falls to East Kentwood on Homecoming night

What Happened: East Kentwood got off to a rapid start, driving 75 yards on four plays, resulting in an early touchdown 62 seconds into the game to get off to an early 7-0 lead. Grand Haven never recuperated and fell to the East Kentwood Falcons 24-9.

Key moment: The Bucs came out strong in the third quarter, when the defense forced a fumble inside the East Kentwood 10 yard line. Grand Haven senior running back, Adrian Nelson then scored on a four yard rushing touchdown to put the game within 10.

Key Contributors: Senior Joey Zelenka was all over the field, recording 128 yards on 17 carries. Zelenka also caught five passes for 36 yards. Brady Jonas also contributed well with two receptions for 45 yards and kicked a 40 yard field goal late in the game. Senior, Adrian Nelson, the lone touchdown scorer for the Buccaneers in the game had 20 yards on eight carries and a touchdown. Senior Quarterback Logan Taylor finished off the night 9 for 23 passing for 102 yards and threw two interceptions. Defensively, senior linebacker Drake Morley led the way with eight tackles, while Zelenka added seven tackles. Senior Noah Brackenbury had five tackles and a fumble recovery.
Up next: Grand Haven falls to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play, and are officially eliminated from playoff contention. The Bucs host the Hudsonville Eagles Friday the 14th.
