Sophomore Audrey Reus was a key golfer all season for the Bucs.

The girls varsity golf team wrapped up its season last week Thursday at the MHSAA Division 1 Regional tournament. The team finished ninth out of 11 teams, with Sophomore Bekah Schrader leading the way for the Bucs with a 94. Coach Roger Glass said it was tough for all OK-Red teams.

“No OK-Red teams made it out, but all of the individual (qualifiers for the State tournament) came from our conference,” Glass said. “We needed an 83 (to advance) and our low was a 94.”

It was a challenging course for the Bucs, especially when it came to the short game.

“We really struggled putting,” Glass said.

Even though the season came to an end for the Bucs, it ended on a positive. Senior Anna Gagnon hit her last tee-shot of her high school career with the famous “Happy Gilmore” swing.

The Bucs had a roster in which different girls contributed on different days, which helped the team. Season highlights include a win over Grandville, and an all-conference medal for Gagnon.
