A Buccaneer defender gets ready to face-off against a West Ottawa opponent earlier in the year.

What: The Grand Haven Buccaneer hockey team hosts Manistee on Friday night and Midland on Saturday. The Bucs come into the Friday game with an 8-8 record (7-3) in conference play and have momentum having just shut out Grand Rapids West Catholic, 5-0. Both Manistee and Midland have strong hockey programs and wins against them would get the Bucs to an above 500 record, a goal they have had all season long. In order for the Bucs to beat these two fast paced teams, they will have to play aggressive.

When: Friday, Feb. 3 against Manistee at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2:00 p.m. Both games will be played at the Lakeshore Sports centre.

They said it: “To be above 500 is a goal we set as a team at the start of the year,” junior goalie Finn Bylsma said, ”So this is a huge weekend in terms of reaching that goal.”
