The Grand Haven-Spring Lake hockey team concluded their season on Monday, Feb. 27, with a 7-1 loss to the Rockford Rams in regional play. The Bucs’ who finished the season off in second place in the tier two O.K. conference with a total record of 12-13 (8-4 in conference).

“I had an amazing time this season with my team,” senior captain Alex Franczek said. “It’s really hard to see it come to an end.”

With the team under the helm of head coach Keegan Ferris in his second year, the team was motivated to turnaround the 7-14-1 record from the year prior.

“(As a team) we worked harder than we ever have before,” Franczek said. “From the summer workouts to the last game we continued to improve as the season progressed.”

This years team will be graduating nine seniors including Franczek and several others who contributed beneficial minutes to the team this season. The influx of graduating seniors does not seem to hinder the objective for next years squad however.

“I’m hoping we can leave behind our work ethic,” Franczek said. “For the underclassmen, that work ethic will be much needed for them to continue to grow as a team.”
