Starting off his newest album with the already hit single “24k Magic”, which is also the title of the album, Bruno Mars brings his A-game with fresh and funky new beats, creating a party feel with his upbeat lyrics and hypnotizing bass lines. Bruno has changed his style from his early years from a slowed down singer/songwriter, love song feel, to an upbeat 80s funk feel. My personal favorite song on the album, titled “Perm”, encourages listeners to let go of their ego and just have a good time. Many compare Bruno’s new style to Michael Jackson, an artist he has called an idol before. Although some songs on the album have a repetitive feel, Bruno manages to change the tempo in the second half of the album. It’s clear that the majority of every song is about women in some sort of way. This connects with 80s roots, which is very refreshing for some listeners. It is clear that the entire album was produced with extreme talent, and every track was an adventure in itself. I personally would rate this album a 4.5 out of five, and I would recommend this album to anyone who is not only interested in the vintage music scene, but also modern pop culture music lovers would be able to enjoy this album as well.
