Parent-teacher conferences were a success

Parent-teacher conferences were held from 2:15-2:45 p.m. and 5:30-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24. During these time slots, invited juniors and seniors received academic letters and pins in the performing arts center.

“Conferences give parents and teachers an intentional opportunity to talk about student progress in classes,” principal Tracy Wilson said.

Wilson anticipates that this will be just one of many of these opportunities during the school year.

“It is my hope that those conversations are happening throughout the semester, especially if there are any concerns on the part of the parent, teacher or student,” Wilson said. “I think it’s important to keep the lines of communication open and not wait for a scheduled conference time if there is a reason to reach out, from either direction.”

Teachers and tables were scattered around the gym ready to greet parents to have a proactive discussion about students.

We also have tables available for: Parent Information,” Wilson said. “Such as student planners, picking up test scores when they are sent to us around conference times, a resource table with information from outside agencies that support our students, exam cram goodie Bag purchases, and a collection area for Bucs Care Food Pantry.”

In addition to the typical tables, the adaptive arts class had a table that auctioned off windows they had decorated in class. The funds raised will go towards opportunities and new projects in class.
