Joshua Wisenbaugh is a new staff member this year. He is a teaching assistant who works with Jeremy Wiebenga. He also coaches the football team.
How long (if at all) have you been teaching? (If yes, any other buildings in the district?)
This is my 4th year teaching overall, I taught at Ferry Elementary and White Pines.
Where did you go to college?
University of Michigan.
Have you found something more difficult than you expected transitioning to GHAPS?
Not really, The kids are more independent but also you don’t have vapes and fighting at the elementary level.
Have you felt accepted at GHAPS?
100%, the staff is amazing.
Did you always want to be a teacher?
Yes, right out of high school, and I wanted to coach football along with teaching.
What makes your classroom unique?
It’s a self-contained classroom so I have the same kids all day which is nice.
If you could change one thing about your curriculum, what would it be and why?
I like our curriculum currently, but if I could change one thing it would be teaching our kids more daily living skills.
What does your planning hour typically look like?
Usually, I get all loose ends tied up and on game days I usually prep for the football game. I also usually eat lunch during that time and sometimes go down to the fitness center and work out.
What is your average coffee intake?
I don’t drink coffee all that much, I prefer to drink a Monster and an energy shot, but I try to limit it to one per day.
What are your favorite and least favorite trends?
I find the TikTok dances hilarious when I see my football players randomly do them during practices.
What are you doing when you are out of school?
I like to work around the yard and spend time with my kids.
