Mixtape: Second Half of Spring Break

This week, reporter, Josiah Masvero put together eight of the best second-half-of-spring-break hits. Each of these songs were selected because they are sure to get you motivated and excited even though your break is coming to an end.

1. All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight by Hank Williams
For anyone spending time in cowboy country, this track will remind you of the loose lifestyle the locals love. With an 80s feel and twangy vocals, Williams’ music is sure to have you hoppin; down to the hoe-down.

2. It’s Time by Imagine Dragons
For the people who still haven’t done anything but sleep this spring break, let this song serve as a reminder that it’s time to get going. The pop-alt style of this well-known alternative tune is perfect for any occasion, so whatever you do, get to it.

3. When Can I See You Again? by Owl City
As you approach the end of your vacation, think of this energizing, techno song and its message. You will soon have to reenter your normal routine, but you’ll never forget the fun you’ve had, and you can’t wait to go back.

4. How Far We’ve Come by Matchbox Twenty
How far did you go? Whether you went to Cancun or your bedroom, this song is a fun way to remember the journey you’ve taken in the last week and the excitement involved. Matchbox’s energetic pulse and rocking beats are what got this song into this week’s Mix-Tape.

5. Only the Good Die Young by Billy Joel
A bland, overdone message put to good music does make a great song. If you haven’t lived your spring break yet, Billy Joel’s classic rock style will get you motivated with the simple words, “Only the good die young.”

6. Who says you Can’t Go Home by Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles
It happens every time. You spend so much time enjoying the world away from home you can’t wait to go back. You can’t go wrong with Bon Jovi, and combined with Jennifer Nettles in a good, country-style tune, he gets his point across: home is good.

7. Timber by Ke$ha (feat. Pitbull)
Ke$ha has the party tune locked up. With the spring-break-friendly beats, whether you’re at the beach or in the car, whenever you hear this song, you’ll be singing along. Plus, who doesn’t like when Pitbull raps?

8. Good Riddance by Green Day
“I hope you’ve had the time of your life.” A deep, mellow way to wrap up this Mix-Tape, the punk influences and acoustic guitar in “Good Riddance” won’t let you forget the good times you’ve had this week. As you return into your real life, “hang the photographs and still frames in your mind,” and never forget the time of your life.
