New “Star Wars” trailer signfies epic ending to series
October 24, 2019
Well Star Wars fans, this is the beginning of the end. The Rise of Skywalker, the ninth movie in the Star Wars saga, has just released its final trailer for the movie that comes out on December 20. And it does not disappoint.
The trailer starts out with a heart-racing scene with Rey (Daisy Ridley) running through a forest setting, leaping over a gaping abyss. This brought Return of the Jedi memories to the front of my mind, as a pilot’s helmet falls to the ground.
Background narration from various characters increase enthusiasm as two of the most notable characters in the series Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Darth Sidious (Ian McDiarmid) make an appearance, as a considerable amount of space battleship action from both sides of the fight between light and dark fills the screen.
Other well-known characters Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 stand in for a group shot that makes vintage Star Wars fans reminisce on the pre-21st-century movies.
As the trailer concludes, scenes that show some more space battles and futuristic lightsaber action complete the exciting roller coaster.
For me, I’ve been an indirect fan of the series as my brother has been a fan his entire life. But I’m stuck with the fact that even though these scenes are in the trailer, some of them don’t make it into the movie.
I’m excited about this movie no matter what and fans should be too. To be able to conclude a saga 42 years in the making that my father remembers watching as a kid, is epic.
So as the wait continues, so does excitement. Grab your popcorn, as this movie is just two months away.
