Deputy Zach Martinie has recently been assigned to work in GHHS. He can be seen holding the doors open on most mornings before school and occasionally in the halls.
Who is your favorite musical artist?
Zach Bryan, he’s a country singer.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
When people drop a big mess and don’t clean it up
What are you doing when you’re out of school?
Spending time with my family, I have a wife and daughter, and I like golfing, and watching college football. Florida state is my favorite team.
How long have you been doing police work?
I’ve been in law enforcement for three years, before that I was in the army.
Where did you go to college?
Ferris state, I got my bachelor’s degree there.
Has anything been difficult for you transtioning to GHHS?
It’s a completely different side of police work. Normally you’re working on a roadside and people are calling 911, here nobody’s calling 911. It’s interacting with kids and helping them when needed.
Have you always wanted to do this a career?
I always wanted to be in the army and thought I would stay in the army but I got out because I had family. When I got out I wanted to help and make a difference so I got this job.
What is your proudest achievement?
My daughter. Raising my daughter with my family because she is my everything.
What do you enjoy about GHHS so far?
The people, staff, and students. Very friendly and very helpful, I can go up to anybody and just start a conversation.
What is your top bucket list item?
Going to a Florida state national championship, it probably won’t happen in my lifetime though.
