Amanda Commons, a Teaching Assistant for Severe Multiple Impairment, is one of the new faces this year at the high school. Special Education has always been something she’s wanted to pursue.
How long have you been teaching/working in schools?
I have been with the school system for three years now.
Have you always wanted to be a teacher/work in education?
I’ve always known I’ve wanted to work with special needs students.
Where did you go to high school and college?
I went to Wesley Chapel High School in Florida and I did not go to college.
What are you doing when you are out of school?
I am a mom to two girls and I color in my free time.
If you could do anything on your weekend what would it be?
Probably find a good movie and binge watch it.
What do you enjoy the most about working at GHHS so far?
I love being able to be with new people and I love being able to be with my kids every single day and the staff.
What is your proudest achievement?
Probably having this job.
Who is your favorite musical artist?
I like the Beatles. I’m old school.
Three things to a deserted island?
Probably my phone, a water bottle and a lighter.
What’s a bucket list item for you?
I would love to go to Alaska. I think that’d be cool when it’s dark at night.
