On Jan. 20, thirty-five marketing and entrepreneurship competed in the 2014 DECA district competition at Ferris State University. The team took home top honors which earned them the opportunity to compete at the 2014 DECA state conference in March.
“It was really cool because we got to go around the campus a lot. We competed in these role plays where we had to solve problems for businesses,” said sophomore Lauren McCaleb, one of the students who competed for medals.
The DECA team split into smaller groups for the competition and 17 students received medals, including Kennedy Kaufman, who earned honors in his marketing event’s test.
This March, the team plans to travel to Detroit for the next level of competition.
