Earlier tonight, a post was made to the Grand Haven Informed Facebook page to get the word out of a freshman who had gone missing in Grand Haven township. Carter Dyke, 14, left to go to Wesco around 3:15 p.m and had not returned home hours later.

A search party was dispatched and at 7:15 p.m, a water rescue was issued in Millhouse Bayou. An Ottawa Country Sheriff’s Deputy was walking a route Dyke might have taken and found him in the water.  He was pulled out at 7:26 p.m and rushed to the hospital for cold water revival treatment.

Dyke was pronounced dead at 9:21 p.m.

An outpouring of support has been shown on social media. The school’s twitter account released their condolences and aided in the movement to wear blue in Dyke’s honor on Wednesday Jan. 14.
