The Safe Zones are a newly advertised improvement this year. Safe Zone participants agree that anyone can come to them and they can go to any teacher for positive influences on how to handle their situations.

“Any student can go to any adult they feel they’re comfortable with,” English teacher Angel Dean said. “I don’t think we need to have a poster on a door saying they can come to us.”

If you feel uncomfortable with talking to a teacher you can always talk to principals or a counselor. You can even schedule a meeting if the situation is larger than only one person can handle.

“Obviously if it’s bigger issues, I’m open to listen and give my feedback,” teacher Brett Hershey said.

Teachers are available anytime of the day and they encourage you not to be embarrassed or afraid to go talk to someone. They want you to know they are on your side.

“I’m a listener and I don’t give input of my opinion,” Dean said. “I respond back to what they are telling me so they can understand what the situation is in a different perspective.”
