School celebrates students with plans
October 27, 2015
Across the nation it is College Application Week for all seniors. The week encourages graduating seniors to have a plan after high school, whether it be college or a different path.
“It is a national effort to increase the number of first-generation and low-income students who pursue a post secondary education,” director of the Tri-Cities College Access Network Kim McLaughlin said. “Whether that’s going into the military, technical or vocational program, two or four-year degree.”
There are people from colleges in the building to help seniors with their applications and future college experience. Applied week benefits students the chance to receive help during the school day to complete their applications.
“Local college representatives and their counselors are there to help answer any and all questions,” McLaughlin said.
Students don’t have to do anything special to qualify. If they fill out a short questionnaire they will get a t-shirt on Friday they can wear to celebrate since they have a plan for post-graduation.
“All seniors should come down to Student Services whether they have questions about their plans after high school, they want help completing applications, they have already completed applications, or they have a different plan after high school,” McLaughlin said. “Listen for more details.”
