Five things to do this weekend

Connor Weber, Senior Staff Writer

You don’t have to wait for the holiday break to have some fun around town, so here’s five activities to help get you out of the house, and beat the cold weather blues.

  1. Start the weekend off right by grabbing some friends and making your way down to support the varsity hockey team Friday night at the Edge Ice Arena. They’ll take the ice at 6:30 p.m. against Grand Rapids West Catholic High School.
  2. Spring  into the holiday spirit and stop by the annual Christmas arts and crafts show at the Grand Haven Community Center. The Grand Haven Area Arts Council will be hosting the event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is $1.
  3. Support the varsity girls basketball team this Saturday as they face-off against the Traverse City Central Trojans. The game is home at 1:30 p.m. and the girls aim to continue their winning streak after beating Traverse City West earlier this week.
  4. Combat the cold weather with warm cheer at the Grand Haven Jingle Bell parade. Festivities begin downtown at 6 p.m. with a float procession and music, leading the way to the lighting of the community Christmas tree in Central Park.
  5. Celebrate the talents of all ages at the Lakeshore Middle school showing of the musical “Annie.” Showings are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. with tickets available for purchase at the door, or during school hours in the main office.
