Mulligan’s Hollow makes do with warm weather
February 28, 2017
One might think that Mulligan’s Hollow would have a rough time this year with little, off and on snow. This, however, is not the case.
“Mulligan’s Hollow has been open all year, all hills, all ropes,” hill Manager Benji Stone said. “We were open when many others were not. With recent weather we are bummed that the season is coming to an end. But we still have all hills open all ropes running.”
Stone attributes Mulligan’s success to a hard working team and that is understandable considering the difficult conditions for creating good set-ups.
The Ski Bowl has had to make a lot of snow this year because of the conditions, however, it hasn’t been a detriment for the finances. Stone said that they are destroying last year’s numbers.
However, the snowboarders have still been impacted negatively by the little snow.
“My snowboarding has been affected a lot actually,” snowboarder Adam Glasser said. “The whole set-up at the ski bowl just can’t be built and it’s melting so often that stuff just gets bad.”
Although skiers and snowboarders alike have had a rough deal in terms of snow, the ski bowl has done well with what has been available. Glasser said they are doing a great job preserving snow in the 60-degree weather.
The repeated consensus is that the community and workers are what makes Mulligan’s great.
“The ski bowl is great because my friend group is there,” Glasser said. “A lot of the workers are super cool so I like hanging out and snowboarding with them.”
This community has led to the Ski Bowl’s success amid worsening conditions.
“Mulligan’s Hollow is and always will be a great local treasure,” Stone said. “And a place where you can get a great job and learn about an amazing industry.”
