FAFSA night to be held for future college freshmen

Nick Twa, Business Manager

There will be a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) meeting on Oct. 1 for upcoming college freshmen in the Performing Arts Center.  This meeting will be held to inform parents of the process and inner workings of the college financial aid application process.

A representative from Grand Valley State University will be on hand to help with any questions that attendees may have.

“The event is recommended for parents of current seniors,” counselor Kim Kowalski said. “But junior parents and students may attend as well.”

The FAFSA is important because it determines your estimated family contribution (EFC) of your cost for college, according to the federal government. Completing your FAFSA is just one of the many steps in applying for colleges; it is also required by most colleges.

If you have any questions about the event, about applying to colleges in general, or about what post-high school life can look like, contact your counselor or head to Student Services.
