WHAT IS ROBOTICS TEAM:

Grand Haven robotics team competes in a robotic competition, beginning in January. Although the actual game of the year won’t be revealed until then, the name of the game, “Charged Up”, was recently announced.

WHAT HAPPENED:

At 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10,  Grand Haven robotics kicked off their season by holding the annual Culver’s Night fundraiser. The team members worked as waiters and served customers to raise money for their club.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN:

The money the team raised at this event will go towards the materials needed for future competitions. According to the head robotics coach Chuck the team spends around 25,000 dollars a year.

WHATS NEXT:

All new and returning robotics team members are invited to attend and introduction meeting Monday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.

The team will compete in a one-day competition on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Zeeland Highschool.

THEY SAID IT:

“I’m looking forward to the season. Several students are returning from last year. Because of Covid, we didn’t have any students returning that had actually been to a competition. So now, everyone returning will at least have a season under their belt and experience. So yeah, there’s some great kids and great students on the team. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do this year.”

–Chuck Priese, Coach of Grand Haven Robotics Team

“Coming out of Covid our team was young and new, so now that we have a lot more experience this year, we are ready to hit the ground running to help build a better name.”
