Special education teacher and fundraiser organizer Joshua Wisenbaugh loves his pet dogs and his community. For the past five years, he has organized the Operation Santa Paws fundraiser, collecting resources for the local Harbor Humane Society.
“I’m a huge dog person,” Joshua said. “I know what dogs do for me and my family and individuals with special needs. It’s just a fun way that we can give back to our community.”
The fundraiser will accept nearly all donations except for used or expired items. Pet food, toys, blankets, Santa Paws will take anything and find a way for it to help those in need during the holidays and the coming years.
Community members interested in contributing are encouraged to bring their donations to Joshua Wisenbaugh in room 3113 during the month of December. The fundraiser will collect items until Dec. 20, when they deliver the donations to the Harbor Humane Society.
“It’s really cool to see my students with autism visit the Harbor Humane Society and witness the impact of their donations,” Joshua said. “My house is a project of rescue pups itself, so it’s always good to see.”
Operation Santa Paws plans to spread joy throughout Grand Haven as it provides the supplies needed to bring love and joy to both pets and the community this holiday season.
