I need to lose ten pounds. I need to add five pounds of make up. I need to strut around in a $50 bra and $7 thong, on T.V., in front of millions of viewers. That’s the message the Victoria’s Secret fashion show sends to girls around the world.
Don’t get me wrong, the girls look hot. Even before all the editing that goes on during photoshoots or commercials. They’re pretty and they’re making it as models. There is nothing wrong with that. What I don’t understand is why it needs to be televised. Why not televise something of meaning or importance? Maybe it’s trying to increase sales. But I guarantee there are more guys watching this than girls, and I don’t think the majority of their customers are males.
There are more important things than a 10 million dollar bra. The people of today are so focused on things that don’t matter. There is so much more to somebody than their body or their hair or their lips. There is so much more to these models. But all that is being seen is their more than half-nakedness prancing around in their panties. Why don’t we use that hour to fill the world with something of substance, something that won’t tempt teenagers to play around with eating disorders.
What girl doesn’t wish they looked like that? I know I wish I did. But the thing is, I don’t. Watching them won’t make me look like that. I know there is so much more to me than how I look in my undies. Some people don’t. Now with twitter, instagram, and facebook, people will see these models everywhere they look. Their sex appeal is unavoidable.
So girls, prepare yourself. Grab a tub of ice cream, curl up in your sweats, and cry while you watch them walk down the walkway. But remember to laugh, because you can eat ice cream, and that’s worth more than looking like a model anyways.
