What Happened: Last night the Bucs were playing for more than just their record. The team came together after the pregame ceremony in memory of teammate Carter Dyke who passed away last year. After a grueling 33 minutes junior Drew VanAndel headed the ball into the goal but the Titans quickly came back – tying the score 1-1 going into the second half and setting the pace for the rest of the game. The teams battled, exchanging goal for goal but the Bucs kept their lead and the soccer team overcame Traverse City West  3-2.

Key Player: Not only were both of junior Drew VanAndel’s goals scored off of headers they helped take the lead back for the Bucs.

They said it: “Carter’s ceremony definitely brought the team together,” senior Garrison Mast said. “Not only did we want to honor Carter with the ceremony but with the way we played on the field.”

Key moment: Senior Connor Jettner dangled around two defenders during a fast break to score the Bucs second goal.

Up next: On Sept. 15, the Bucs will face the Hudsonville Eagles in their first conference game of the season.
