What happened: Last night the Bucs traveled to East Kentwood to play in the regional semi-final game against Portage Northern. A few minutes after kick off, a Portage free kick deflected off a Grand Haven player’s head, sending the ball into the back of the Bucs net. Bouncing back, the Bucs pushed downfield and forced a relentless attack against their opponent. With many shots missing the goal, they were unable to finish. Going into half the Huskies led 1-0. The Bucs continued to be in an offensive mindset for the rest of the game, constantly pressuring Portage. Late in the game this bit them in the back when the Huskies countered off a Buccaneer attack and made the score 2-0. The score remained the same until the clock read 0:00. This ended the Bucs season earlier than they had hoped.
Key player: Junior Cam Jerovsek had multiple scoring chances in Tuesday’s game. Jerovsek is one of Grand Haven’s most reliable forwards and is always looking to put the ball into the back of the net. Even when his team came away with a loss, he still pursued scoring on Tuesday with a passion.
Key moment: Junior midfielder Drew Van Andel volleyed the ball out of the air, sending it into the box straight towards Jerovsek’s leg. Jerovsek struck the ball with force, just missing the corner of the goal. This was one of the Bucs best scoring chances.
Record: The Bucs ended the season with an overall record of 14-5-2. In the O-K Red they finished with a 7-2-1 record.
