Solid regional run preps Bucs water polo team for states

What Happened: The Bucs kicked off regional water polo action on Friday against Grandville . The Bucs prevailed 12-2 against the Bulldogs in a thrilling game, with plenty of goals for the Grand Haven crowd to cheer about. The Buccaneers played fast and smart, and put the Bulldogs down with relative ease. Grant Ruster finished with 5 goals. The boys returned to the pool early saturday to play against Hudsonville. A hard fought battle that was tied at 5-5 at the end of the third was won by the Eagles with a final score of 7-6. Despite the loss, the Buccaneers qualify for the state tournament.

 

They Said It: “We played smart and fast throughout the game but there were still small mistakes that we need to fix before we face the higher teams,” junior Brigham Thornock said.

 

What’s Next: The Buccaneers face Jenison at 2 p.m. this Saturday, and look ahead to a big state tournament run.
