WHAT HAPPENED: After a strong 11-2 start, The Grand Haven Buccaneers slowed down, but still manage to finish Zeeland East off with a 12-7 victory on senior night.

WHAT IT MEANS: The seniors were sent off with a win on senior night. Also, because Zeeland is a top team in their district, a victory over them will most likely lead to the Bucs being seeded as one of the top 3 teams in the district, which would automatically qualify them for the regional tournament.

KEY MOMENT: Early in the second quarter, junior Nick Wilson set up senior Ethan Ball on a goal that would fuel the Bucs on a 9-0 run over the next two quarters.

THREE STARS:

  • First star: senior Ethan Ball. The upperclassman led the way offensively, scoring four goals and recording an assist
  • Second star: junior Nick Wilson. Wilson led the charge on the defensive end, recording six steals.
  • Third star: senior Mark Nordin. The goalie had a solid night, putting up 8 saves.

THEY SAID IT: Our defense was really strong most of the game, we didn’t give Zeeland many chances to score,” senior Matt Marcus said. “We did get into some trouble with a few fouls against us though and that’s where Zeeland was able to take advantage a few times.”

UP NEXT: The Bucs will face off with East Grand Rapids on the 8th at 7:00 PM.
