What Happened: The boys varsity cross country took second in the O-K Red conference championship.

What It Means: The Buccaneers finished second for the season and will move on to the regional meet Saturday October 27 in Allendale.

Key Moment: The Bucs were coached to get out to a fast first mile, an all-or-nothing move by coach John Tarr. The Bucs ended up fading down the stretch, locking up a second place finish.

Three Stars:

  • First Star: Cole Rowden placed first on the team, which was a surprise because he normally finishes third on the team.
  • Second and Third Stars: Dominic Weatherwax and Andrew Ireland, who finished second and third respectively.

They Said it:  “I feel we are coming out too fast on the first mile and gassing ourselves out,” senior Aidan Martin said. “We need to take it a little slower”.

Up Next: This Saturday the Grand Haven boys will take on regionals hoping to place first, but only needing to place third to move onto states.
