The Grand Haven Buccaneers’ varsity bowling team is going for the kill this season. They have their eyes on the prize as they aspire to win the state competition but will have to face some hardships while doing so.

“Learning is our biggest goal,” senior Jonathan Garland said. “We want to win state but with an almost brand new team I want them to learn and get better at bowling.”

Along with the team’s goal of winning a state championship, senior Jonathan Garland has quite a few personal goals.

“I’d like to be the best in the conference this year as I was only third last year and I want to win a championship with our team,” Garland said. “There is also a single event for state and I want to win that.”

The team will be playing under two new coaches: Max Golden and Joy Cooper. They also have lost some key seniors, but there is a plethora of up-and-coming freshmen talent.

“We are feeling very optimistic because we have a lot freshmen with an incredible amount of talent that they can give to the team,” Garland said. “We brought in a lot of open minded people that want to get better and have the drive to improve.”
