WHAT HAPPENED/WHAT IT MEANS: The boys wrestling team played in a home duals meet facing Spring Lake, Battle Creek Lakeview, Howell and Reeths-Puffer. It finished the meet with a 3-1 record on the day. This boosts the group’s total record to 7-1 on the season, giving them significant amounts of momentum heading into conference play.

KEY MOMENT: The Buccaneers faced the Lakers in a clash of arch rivals. They had no trouble taking them down, which turned out to be a big victory for the team.

KEY PLAYERS:

  • First star: senior Cody Miller finished undefeated after the matches, leading the Bucs and seniors of the squad.
  • Second star: junior Riley Rhone finished the day with undefeated record in his weight class. His competitive mentality has brought a major boost to the group.
  • Third star: junior Trevor Rademaker also had a big day for the Bucs, winning most of his matches.

THEY SAID IT: “Obviously we have some weaknesses that we need to work on,” Rademaker said. “But overall we wrestled very well. Most of our middleweight and lightweight guys have been good all season, but our heavyweight guys have stepped up lately.”

UP NEXT: The squad takes on Caledonia on Wed. December 19 in another home meet, this time in conference play.
