WHAT HAPPENED: The Grand Haven girls lacrosse team squared off with long time rival Spring Lake. They lost 13-5 in a game that started out strong for Lady Bucs but ended sloppily.

THEY SAID IT: “We went into the game with an optimistic outlook,” senior Abby Dunster. “Spring Lake has always been a big game for us, but we knew, win or lose, we would only grow stronger from the competition. The game went really well despite what the scoreboard said. We stayed confident, strong, and played with undeniable respect and class. We did an amazing job of not letting this get to our heads.”

KEY PLAYERS: Sophomore Sydney Robinson scored 3 goals and was the offensive force for the Bucs all night. Senior Ally Kingma led the charge offensively, despite battling a knee injury. Junior Jocelyn Jensen played solid defense and forced numerous turnovers.

KEY MOMENT: Within the final minutes, the girls went on a scoring run with 3 goals in an attempt to close the gap, proving that they are able to compete late in games.

UP NEXT: The team will be travelling to Lowell this Monday for their contest at 7 p.m.
