WHAT HAPPENED/WHAT IT MEANS: The baseball team battled West Ottawa on Thursday, defeating the Panthers at home 11-1. This game clinched a three-game sweep for the squad, which is always pivotal when the season starts conference play.

KEY PLAYERS:

  • 1st star: Senior Jax Mast – Mast shined on the mound, pitching for most of the game, saving the win for the Bucs.
  • 2nd star: Junior Owen Krizan – Krizan once again has a solid hitting day at the plate and played strong defense to hold West Ottawa to only one run.
  • 3rd star: Sophomore Tanner Williams – Williams also had a good day at the plate, recording multiple hits and RBI’s.

THEY SAID IT: “We all hit the ball well,” Krizan said. “Our bats are starting to heat up and we’re playing good defense now. We’re playing good as a team all around.”

KEY MOMENT: A clutch double play by junior Alex Kapala, senior Ashton Voorhees and junior Caleb King kept the Panthers off of the board when they had the bases loaded.

UP NEXT: The squad visits Grand Rapids Catholic Central tomorrow starting at 4:30 p.m.
