Senior volleyball player Sarah Knoll has committed to play for the Michigan Tech Huskies.

“It’s really just a beautiful place that has great people and offers me pretty much everything I’m looking for,” Knoll said. “I was always going back and forth between whether or not I actually loved volleyball enough to commit to it and play it in college but I finally decided that it’s a sport I love and it’s worth it.”

Knoll said she was looking for colleges in-state that offered engineering degrees and Michigan Tech stood out to her. She attended their summer camp and the coaches showed interest after they had seen Knoll play.

“It’s great because I’ll be continuing a sport that I love,” Knoll said. “It’s also just really kind of scary because you’re like I don’t know how this is gonna go, if everything is gonna work out the way I want it to.”

Although the standout volleyball player joins the Huskies next year, she will leave a positive impact on the GHHS program. Knoll coaches in the Young Bucs volleyball program to help kids learn volleyball.

“She’s such a hard worker. She’s got a great work ethic,” head coach Aaron Smaka said. “She affects our program from fifth grade through twelfth grade. She’s always one of the first ones in the gym, one of the last ones to leave.”

Knoll looks to make an impact on the Huskies’ improving volleyball program as she joins a top 25 Division II team.
