The Bucs wrestling team recently kicked off practice ahead of 2019/2020 season.

“One thing that is nice is we only graduated four seniors,” head coach Vincent Gervais said. “We return the bulk of our team from last season so we finished with 40 guys so 36 kids returning is pretty awesome.”

After finishing fourth in the O-K Red Conference and losing the district title for the first time in four years this past season, the Bucs are looking to improve.

“We work a lot harder now because we lost to Hudsonville at team districts and we didn’t like that,” senior Riley Rhone said. “Just working harder so everybody can achieve their goals. As a team we want to make it to team state.”

As the Bucs return with solid numbers throughout the program, the team will look to the senior leadership this season.

“We do have a large group of seniors who have been with us for four years,” Gervais said. “So in terms of leadership im excited about what they’re going to be able to do for our program and not just this year but the example they can set for the future.”

The Bucs start their season off with a quad match at home on Dec. 11.
