The Grand Haven Boys Volleyball team crushed Rochester Adams Highlanders 3-0 at the state semi-finals match on Thursday, May 30. The match was held at Hudsonville high school immediately after the other semifinal game.
“We wanted to come out hot,” freshman Max Krugler said. “We wanted to win.”
The Bucs opened the game scoring the first point but the two teams went point-for-point through most of the first set. But eventually, the Bucs managed to open up a lead over the Highlanders and put themselves up 1-0.
“We came out with a good energy,” JV head coach Brian Cryst said. “We came out ready to play.”
After a good first set, the Bucs were feeling better, and were playing better too. They closed out the second set quickly going 25-15 and bringing the game to a 2-0 match point.
The Bucs continued to snowball their lead through the third set where they temporarily held an 11 point lead near the end of the match. The final point was scored by Camden Koster who made a block the Highlanders couldn’t recover from.
“We’re excited to play Hudsonville and get our revenge,” said Krugler.
