At the Thespian Festival on Dec. 2, the theater department received an excellent or a superior rating, which is the highest rating, for their performance of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

Juniors Andrew Barney and Kyle Nagy received an excellent in duet musical theatre. Senior Lizzie Hill received an excellent in solo acting. Sophomores Kensley Schenkel and Mailyn Miller received a superior in duet acting along with seniors Kathryn Jaeger and Gavin TenBroeke, who received a superior in duet musical theatre. Senior and lead Ben Lutz received a superior in both scenic design and solo musical theatre. Senior Mary McGinnis received a superior in stage management. The tech team also won best in the state.

Student director Erik Livingston was amazed at the effort put into this musical.

“I was absolutely overjoyed with my results and with everyone else’s,” Livingston said. “Our troupe has some of the best actors, singers and technicians Michigan has to offer. I’m honestly surprised they didn’t all get some secret rating higher than superior! I was very confident that they would all do amazing.”
