Youth Are Creative: Important Information

What:The Grand Haven Community Foundation will be hosting the “Youth are Creative” event to showcase local performances, art, and writing. The option to submit creative writing can be done anonymously and would be sat at the booths and tables around the cafe for the public to enjoy. Submissions for are due by October 12 (date subject to extension) and must include a photo with a brief explanation, video, or a maximum of one page of writing. Submit to Lauren Grevel, who is the head of the community foundation, by sending her an email at [email protected].  Award winning will be chosen by the public, judges, and “Youth are Creative” members

 

Where/When: Washington Avenue will be host to the event in front of the popular cafe, Jumpin’ Java. They will be put on display there for the public to vote on. Beginning November five through the ninth, the four day stretch will give plenty of time for someone to enjoy all of the community’s talent.

 

They Said it: “We’re really just trying to create a platform for youth to be empowered and express themselves in different ways,” Grevel said. “We know that the art community is not as vibrant as other communities here, so we are trying to involve that type of demographic of students.”
