Pay It Forward class hosts competition to raise mental health awareness

The Pay It Forward class is hosting a “Wellness Rail Jam” on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Mulligan’s Hollow from 6-8 p.m. Lift tickets cost $5 and it is $10 to participate. All proceeds will be donated to a local organization to bring aid and awareness to mental illness.

For those who don’t know, a rail jam is a freestyle skiing and snowboarding competition in which the participants hit a select few terrain park features including rails, boxes or small jumps.

The scores are dictated by the execution, style and the difficulty of each trick. Whoever racks up the most points will get a prize, while the fee paid to participate is donated to Mosaic Counseling.

Mosaic Counseling is a group of over 65 counselors and therapists who specialize in helping teenagers and anyone suffering from depression, anxiety or mental illness. For more information see https://mosaiccounseling.com/.

“We saw the need for mental health care and wanted to support Mosaic’s mission,” senior and Pay it Forward member Maddie Fogg said. “It’s not that there’s a lack of help, but there’s options out there people don’t know they have, and Mosaic Counseling is one of those amazing options.”
