5 DIY gifts

Elizabeth Tibbe, Co-editor in chief

Sometimes the best gifts come from the heart. Not to mention the fact that it’s always more fun (and cheaper) to make gifts yourself and for some, its hard to buy the right gift. Try any of these for those tricky people to buy for. Links for all instructions are below.

DIY painted mugs
For the coffee or tea lover in your life, add a personal touch to that simple dollar store mug. You could go the extra mile and add their beverage of choice to the package.

Baking kit
For those who love food, but for you who doesn’t want to make it, pass the job onto them. Holiday oven mitts are everywhere right now, grab one and some cookie mix or refrigerated dough and other baking accessories, and you’re done!

Movie gift basket
One of the best things to do in a long Michigan winter is curl up with a movie. Make a gift out of it and package a movie with popcorn and candies.

The nothing jar
For the difficult person to buy for, you know who I’m talking about, the one who always replies with “Oh I don’t want anything”, get them nothing.\

Giant jenga
Jenga is a childhood staple, as you grow up, let the game grow with you. If you aren’t very skilled in the carpenter department, some help might be necessary, just make sure you finish in one piece.
