Your guide to graduation
May 18, 2014
You only get to walk at commencement once, so here’s your guide to make sure you’re doing it right.
Commencement Practice: Starts at 2 p.m. in the field house on May 21. Seniors must attend. They will handout seven tickets (only to be used for an indoor ceremony) while your practicing. Dress casually and according to the weather.
Baccalaureate: Sponsored by First Priority of the Lakeshore and scheduled for 5 p.m. on May 22 in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Participation is voluntary. Students planning to attend should arrive at 4:15 p.m.
Commencement: Will be at 7 p.m. on May 22 and is at Buccaneer Stadium or the Field House, depending on the weather. Seniors need to arrive at 6 p.m. and meet in the auxiliary gym. If the event is moved indoors the Field House will open at 6 p.m. for those with tickets and 6:45 p.m. for those without tickets. A number of seats for the elderly will be set up behind the seats for the graduates. Additionally the PAC will have a large screen and a live feed (yes, the PAC is air conditioned). The PAC will not be open if commencement is held on the field.
Dress code for commencement:
- Ladies: Wear a light colored dress or skirt and blouse or sweater. Light colored suits are also acceptable. Appropriate shoes must be worn, flats are recommended for use on the football field.
- Men: Wear a light colored dress shirt with a tie and appropriate dress pants. Shoes and socks must be worn.
