For many seniors, the question of what to do after graduation remains unanswered. To help clarify this dilemma, the Boomerang career fair is opening the door to post-high school opportunities.

“It’s not a job fair. It’s a career fair,” Chamber of Commerce Talent Development Manager and Boomerang coordinator Nancy Manglos said.

When you throw a boomerang, it comes back to you. The goal of Boomerang is to give students reasons to come back to Grand Haven after college. It links students and employers.

“Businesses want to connect with the younger generation,” Manglos said.

There are 31 businesses from the West Michigan area participating and each falls into one of three branches: math, technology, and science; art and creativity; or writing and communication.

On Tuesday, Oct. 20, seniors will be called down to the field house to tour different careers.

It’s important to make a good impression at Boomerang. Students who engage well will be eligible to enter a giveaway contest. There will also be tuition reimbursement programs and even summer internship opportunities to explore.

“Each of you will be successful,” Manglos said. “It’s just your path to success that will look different.”
