New books seen on display in the school library.

Access to information is every student’s biggest struggle. As school becomes more technology-focused, some students would prefer to have a physical copy. Our school library provides us with unlimited options that don’t have a screen to give us a headache.

“We buy a big batch of books every couple of weeks. Usually by looking at what has been checked out recently,” librarian Dana Rider says. It’s important to have a consistent flow of new books for those who read on the weekly.

Social media increases access to new and popular books. BookTok for example, a small community on the app TikTok, bonds over what’s recently published and all things literature-related.

“We love taking requests from students. Ideally, we’ll be able to order them and get those in around a week,” says Rider. Our library is always looking for what’s popular to help adventurous students become fully immersed in other worlds.
