September 18, 2015

What happened: Last night the Grand Haven boys varsity soccer team traveled to Rockford to face the Rams. Junior forward Mason Harloff scored in the first half carrying the Bucs into halftime with a 1-0 lead. With two more goals added by junior Drew Van Andel and senior Connor Jettner in the second half, Grand Haven was able to keep the three-game win streak alive and defeat Rockford, 3-0. Grand Haven is now 2-0 in conference play, and 5-2 overall.

Key player: Jettner was able to seal the game for the Bucs with his late goal in the second half, putting the Rams behind by three. Jettner is a frequent goal scorer for the team and his tenacious playing style never fails to be successful.

They said it: “Rockford is a tough team to beat, let alone four times in a row,” senior goalkeeper Garrison Mast said. “We don’t like losing, especially to Rockford so we came to play.”

Key Moment: Harloff scored early on, leading the Bucs into halftime with a confident attitude and gave them the momentum they needed to close out the game with a win.

Up next: The Grand Haven varsity soccer team will face their rival from across the bridge, Spring Lake, on Saturday, Sept. 19.
