Boys soccer loses to Okemos in regional semifinals

WHAT HAPPENED:

The boy’s varsity soccer team suffered a tough loss against Okemos on Wednesday, October 23 in the regional semifinals. During the first half, the Bucs secured the ball in the back of the net to gain a goal. They gained three more in the second half ending the game with a score of 7-4.

WHAT THIS MEANS:

This was the last game of the season for the Buccaneers, ending the seniors’ careers as high school soccer players. Even though they knew the end was coming, each player worked hard and gave it their all, whatever it took.

KEY PLAYERS: 

Senior captain Gavin Jonker finished two shots on goal, one in the first half and one in the second half.

Senior captain Max Jerosvek buried the ball in the back of the net during the second half.

Senior captain Jaden King scored the last goal of the game during the second half.

THEY SAID IT: 

“There may be people that have more talent than you,” said senior captain Max Jerosvek. “But there is no excuse for anyone to work harder than you.”
