Girls volleyball beats East Kentwood on senior night

WHAT HAPPENED:
The girls varsity volleyball team beat East Kentwood in three sets on Tuesday, October 22. They started strong winning 25-13 and took the next two sets 25-22 and 25-21. It was an emotional night for the team as they celebrated the seniors and acknowledged the continuous support from their parents.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN:
Grand Havens’ win changes their record to 5-1 in conference and 40-7 overall. The Bucs’ remain 2nd in the O-K Red conference.
KEY PLAYERS:
- Senior Ashley Slater was a dominant player in the Bucs’ offense. She awed the crowd with each swing and finished the game with 18 kills. She also had five aces.
- Senior Reece Redder was a large defensive presence. She went all out and led the team with 15 digs.
THEY SAID IT:
“During the game we did a good job controlling our emotions and executing our plan for the night, especially since it was senior night and emotions were heightened,” senior Reilly Swierbut said.
