Girls volleyball beats East Kentwood on senior night

WHAT HAPPENED:

The girls varsity volleyball team beat East Kentwood in three sets on Tuesday, October 22. They started strong winning 25-13 and took the next two sets 25-22 and 25-21. It was an emotional night for the team as they celebrated the seniors and acknowledged the continuous support from their parents. 

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN:

Grand Havens’ win changes their record to 5-1 in conference and 40-7 overall. The Bucs’ remain 2nd in the O-K Red conference.

KEY PLAYERS:

  • Senior Ashley Slater was a dominant player in the Bucs’ offense. She awed the crowd with each swing and finished the game with 18 kills. She also had five aces.
  • Senior Reece Redder was a large defensive presence. She went all out and led the team with 15 digs.

THEY SAID IT:

“During the game we did a good job controlling our emotions and executing our plan for the night, especially since it was senior night and emotions were heightened,” senior Reilly Swierbut said.

The Bucs’ take on Grandville and West Ottawa on Thursday, October 24.
