The hype is real among Kendrick Lamar fans due to the new album that the hip-hop prodigy is planning to release. The album is a follow-up to his 2012 major debut, good kid m.A.A.d city.67y

The album does not yet have an official release date or title yet, although rumor is it will be released before 2015, and the working title is United States of A.L.A.R.M.

Lamar has released one single from the album titled “I,”1 which is a song about how he loves himself and is focused on remaining positive. “I” takes a different path than his GKMC songs which talk about gang violence and the struggles he faced growing up on the streets of Compton.

Critics are concerned that the album will not be able to compete with GKMC, stating that it was “more than just a great album, it was what changed the singer from an internet sensation to an A-list rapper.”

However that doesn’t change fans very high expectations.

Fans expectations were raised when a Beats by Dre commercial began showing on television featuring Lamar in the recording studio working on a song called “It’s Alive.” The song is expected to be one from the upcoming album, and listeners agree that they are excited to hear the full version of the tune.

Lamar’s fans also agree that it is long overdue for Lamar to release another album. Although GKMC sets the bar high, fans have no doubt that Lamar can successfully deliver twice.

“By the end of the year 2013, Kendrick Lamar was listed as the best rapper by hundreds of sources,” fans wrote on Pitchfork.com. “There is no reason why he shouldn’t pull through this time as well.”
