Alternative post-graduation options

The Careerline Tech Center is a popular choice for students considering a nontraditional path during their secondary school years.

Senior Andrea Whiting attends the Tech Center’s afternoon program.

“I decided to go to tech because I thought it would be interesting to branch away from the high school setting and to also meet and make new friends who hold a mutual interest as me,” Whiting said.

Whiting is involved in the cosmetology program to gain appropriate training for the future.

“I plan on being an esthetician which is pretty much a skin therapist who specializes in administering facials, aromatherapy, hair and skin care and makeup,” Whiting said.

Whiting appreciates the specialized setting that can best prepare her for post-secondary plans.

“I think one of the major benefits is learning about or make a career out of but also having an environment where there are others who have the same goals and interests as yourself,” Whiting said.
